Colemans Hatch v Edenbridge Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI on Sat 23 May 2009 at 2.00
Edenbridge Cricket Club Won By 5 Wickets

Match report Before I begin, well done to both Kevin Murphy and Tim Cox for winning last weeks "deliberate mistake" competition. The answer as we all know should have read slight screen, not side screen, look out for this weeks almost certain blunder and send answers on a stamped postcode to the normal address.

Enough with that, well then, it appears we are still on a cup run. And what a fine way I might say to keep the dream alive. Saturday saw probably one of the best wins I have witnessed in my tenure as captain with some excellent individual performances as well as a fantastic effort by the whole team.

Lets start then with the toss, I won it, and I made us field. This proved to be a good toss to win, with an unpredictable pitch and good humidity which decreased as the match went on. Colemans Hatch started strongly with their opening pair putting both Hilly and myself to the sword scoring big runs at regular intervals. In a master stroke I took my myself off and let Levi have a go, it proved a decision well made. The pick of the bowlers Levi bowled the opening batsman giving his now customary fiddy celebration, much to the annoyance of the batsman. In an excellent spell Levi took his best figures for the 1st team 4-43. With brilliant contributions from the two Coxs and top draw fielding on a difficult pitch we managed to keep the score down to what seemed to challenging but attainable score of 248.

After tea the chase began and Tim Cox got us underway with another 50 to his name this season, supported by Jon, Seb and Graham. However, this innings belonged to only one man, with a score of 92*, having been dropped on 20 by one of the delightful memebers of the oppo, hitting a tremendous 8 sixes Dave Putman Jnr with an excellent assist of 29* from Hilly ensured victory with more then 3 overs remaining. Quite fitting that the winning runs were hit in the form of a maximum.

So into the quarter final draw we go to face Crawley Down away on Saturday 20th June.

Tea: A solid tea with good variety and nice cakes, 7.5.

Champagne moment: Runners up this week were Levi really annoying the opening batsman with his celebration, loving that, and an altercation on the boundary between one of the oppo and Tim Cox who tried to claim he had scored more runs then Tim when infact no one from Colemans Hatch had scored over 50. If you cannot add up do not enter in that type of banter. Although most of you are probably thinking if you cannot spell do not wirte up match reports.
Anyways this weeks moment has to be the fireworks that are Dave Put Jnr in full flow with a bat and his score of 92*. Well batted Putters.
