Edenbridge Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Horsham IIIA on Sun 11 May 2008 at 2.00
Edenbridge Cricket Club Lost by 111 runs

Match report Well the day was sweltering, and the heat unbearable, so naturally we lost the toss and got told to field. Unbelievable heat, and a very talented batting line-up did not make for the most entertaining afternoon in the field. The effort in the field was good throughout the day, but the work was not rewarded with wickets. The scores ended with Horsham reaching 274 for 7, with Gat Fuller getting 2/52 and Danny Ott taking 2/49. However, the true highlight came from a Tim Fuller over...the moon ball will live on in our memories of being 7 feet over the batsman's head, and then he proved it's been a while since he bowled as he failed find his bowling mark!

The batting performance was always going to be difficult, as 7 an over is not an easy place to start from. After falling to 51-3, a good partnership between Seb Goodhew and Graham Cox of 71 made the score respecatable. Graham made his way to 56 before being caught on the boundary, and Seb finished on 34 after some solid batting.

If we look at it we can see that the youth of Horsham, and some great batsmen took the game from us pretty quickly. It was a valiant effort by the 1's but it was definately not our day. It's fair to say that after a few sitters were dropped, one by a certain Mr Perrera late on, that their score would be too much.

It was another day of diving half-chances, "plum" (according to Mr Johnson anyway) LBW appeals, and exhasting sun. Never a good combination when your in a bad mood is it skipper?
So a big loss, but full of strong performances, and atleast I got the best figures for the home team (RESULT!). Never mind boys, we'll get them in the league won't we? (AHEM)

TEA REPORT: For this week we had the privelidge of half-centurion Graham Cox preparing our teas, with tons of cake, and sandwiches for all. The personal home-made touch was a nice touch of class I thought, and so he earns a very satisfactory 7.5 this week. Congrats Graham. Tied with Howard's gran at the moment. I'm sure we should make an award for best tea of the season!

Finally lads, we have one serious note. I know that we all have an urge to get away after the end of the long weekend, but the fact is that we can't all just stand at the bar at the end of the game and wait for someone else to tidy up. Please can we just all make sure things are tidy before we are off home. Thanks
