Edenbridge Cricket Club Saturday 2nd XI v Bolney II on Sat 09 May 2015 at 13:30
Edenbridge Cricket Club Won by 10 wickets

Match report First home game of the season saw the return of captain Woodman to the fold, having been dropped from the 1st XI following an opening day score of 97 no Where's the justice in that ! We duly rocked up at a warm & sunny Blossoms (well, eight of us did !) to find Joicey chugging up & down on his roller.
Upon winning the toss, with only eight men to field it was clear that putting them in was the only option ! We were soon joined by Ben "I can't get no satisfaction" Jagger, fresh from his exploits with the under 12s. Opening spells from Jewsbury & Fuller soon had Bolney roaring along at around 1 1/2 an over, such was the miserly bowling. Both were unlucky not to pick up wickets but then enter our newest bowling weapon, Ramesh. Bowling his potent mixture of left arm twirlers, doosras & carom balls he managed to weedle out a couple with the aid of some good stump work from the skipper. Fresh from touring with Coldplay & doing a stint of test cricket with New Zealand, Chris Martin also picked up the vital wicket of one of the Bolney openers which left the way clear for the veteran Cox to pick up three cheap wickets at the end once he saw the incoming batsmen with large floppy ears ! Altogether, a cracking bowling & fielding performance setting us up for a nice tea. Great spells from Jewsbury & Fuller at the start to restrict Bolney.
Cox & Woodman strode to the wicket after tea to begin the chase. As it turned out they also strode back from the wicket a couple of hours later having completed the chase ! Despite the distraction of a full on brawl over the road at the petrol station, they were able to gradually chase down the Bolney score without any alarms other than being incapable of turning ones into twos due to a combination of physical incapacity & Coxy feeling his age. At one point both he & the skipper were travelling in the same direction along the wicket with Coxy in danger of being lapped. Such is old age ! So a good 10 wicket win with 50s for both openers & a bag of 24 points. Well done all.
