Speldhurst v Edenbridge Cricket Club Under 15 on Sun 06 May 2007 at 10.00
Edenbridge Cricket Club Lost By 5 runs

Match report Catches win matches, an old adage I know but very true in this game. One catch out of a possible six was never going to help our cause. Speldhurst batted first and almost immediately we missed a run out which would have seen off their main run provider (51 Retired). We contrived to give away 24 extras and no bowler produced a maiden. The good form I've seen during our winter nets has yet to materialize out in the middle.
The good news was the form of our opening batsmen Seb and Tom who in reply to their 140 for 3 put on 90 runs for the first wicket in a very sensible well worked opening stand. Seb went on to retire on 51 and for me that was the best innings I've seen him play. With the run chase we lost a couple of quick wickets before Pryesh and George both batted well to give us a sniff of victory. Alas in the end we ran out of overs falling 5 runs short.
I started with an adage and I'll finish with one - Speldhurst didn't win this match, Edenbridge lost it.
