Edenbridge Cricket Club Under 13 v Stonewall Park on Tue 30 May 2006 at 6.00
Edenbridge Cricket Club Won 9

Match report The Under 12's got off to a winning start after several weeks of rain induced delays.
Much credit should go to all of the boys for remembering which end of the bat to hold and the rules of cricket.
Edenbridge batted first and were soon one wicket down as the "Whirlwind" Freeman blew up (a surprise after his recent demolition of Tunbridge Wells U13s). Luckily we had George "Boykes" Bushell to take the shine off the new ball. In fact George would have taken the shine off the crown jewels, he batted so "carefully".
Captain Vickery joined George in the fourth over and moved the score along nicely with several pulls and drives for four including three off the reel in one over.
George was retired after 8 overs for a studious 4 (he claims his bat is still being knocked in, at this rate it will be pefect for next season) and Adam after 15 overs for a (relatively) rousing 30. The scoreboard slowed down rather thereafter but the boys who did bat struggled against some wayward bowling which specialised in pea shooters and legside wides. The boys who waited patiently without batting will get their turn soon.
Thanks go to Mrs Vickery for providing the mid-innings drinks and biscuits. Also Messrs Martin and Davies the umpires. Such sterling volunteers are much appreciated, even if the boys in their excitement sometimes forget to say thank you.
The Stonewall innings was dominated by C Thompson and Edenbridge's inability to pouch even the simplest of catches offered (note to coaching staff). All of the bowlers kept to a tight line and length (at least in their second overs) and Stonewall were always slightly behind the clock with Tom "Mystery" Mundy and Kieran "Doosra" Peters taking the wickets to fall. Mention should be made of a lively opening spell from the Whirlwind and accurate "Death" bowling from Martin and Johns. Catching apart, the fielding was lively with good "walking in" and throwing from the deep.
Congratulations to all the boys involved who can now look forward to the rest of the season with confidence as the mercury rises in the barometer.
