Edenbridge Cricket Club redundant v Tun Wells Borderers on Tue 21 Jun 2011 at 6.00pm
Edenbridge Cricket Club Won by 9 wkts

Match report A win is a win! - Some matches are breathtakingly exciting (Horsmonden) and some are simply ground out clinically and without fanfair (tonight's).
The crease was green and damp this evening, the sun was low and there was a strong breeze. Winning the toss and putting the opposition into bat(not knowing their strength) was a sensible choice. Tonight's win was the result of good fielding and teamwork - and again it was a real team effort! with opening 2 over spells from: Scott (6 for 2), Seb (8 for 1), Tom (4 for 1 & 2 maidens) and Rupert (6 for 1)it was obvious we had control of the match. A change of bowling to let everyone have at least an over meant we saw Ellie, Callum, Matthew and Ollie bowl very economical overs. Hugo demonstrated last weeks long through to hit the stumps was no fluke and Elliot threw some trendous balls in from the boundary. The opposition finished their innings 74 for 5 at the end of the 20 overs.
Matthes and Rupert opened the batting - and despite a slow start gradually openined up the scoring - an unfortunate miscommunication lost Matthew's wicket for 18 after yet another solid performance - but by then the game was won. Rupert and Ollie finished off the last 10 runs quickly - to win the game in the 13th over.
As I said at the start - not the most exciting game - BUT very important points which put the team in a very strong league position with only 3 games remaining.
Usual thanks to scorers, umpire and the mum's that ran the tea (despite the lack of power).
