Edenbridge Cricket Club Saturday 1st XI v Streat on Sat 07 Aug 2010 at 1.30
Edenbridge Cricket Club Lost by 5 wickets

Match report With Streat lying third in the league, this was always going to be a tough game, it certainly proved to be just that.

Getting to put into bat, I felt we did well, after loosing three quick wickets, Jon Woodman and Alan Joyce steadied the ship, Joycy playing very well to support Jon. For Jon it was just one of those days when you see everything like a football. Jon played wonderfully well for his 132 and certainly gave us some thing to bowl at, with useful additions at the end of innings from Dan Ott, Matt Cox and Dom Jordan.

Unfortunately though, for a team that have chased down over 250, this total was made to look some what easy. For the second week running we bowled very poorly, this is something that must improve for our final three games. It also didn't help when Matt's knee went. Hopefully things will be ok with that. The opening partnership made nearly two hundred for the first wicket, and with that they were always in control. One positive was the bowling from Danny Ott, taking four very helpful wickets for extra points. It was also good to see Tim Cox take a wicket as well in only his third spell of the season. These late wickets certainly made for a more interesting finish, unfortunately though with such a good first wicket stand it is always going to be difficult to get the rest of the team out.

Overall a rather dissapointing loss, we really must pick our fielding up to the levels it was at the beginning of the season. I know we can do it, so lets start with the game at Crawley Down.

Tea: 9 1/2 out of 10: Top effort Gran, excellent tea as always and always keep speople wanting more, chocolate brucheta simply inspired

Champagne Moment: Jon Woodman's 132, top effort again, great innings to watch

Funny Moment: With not a lot to report from the match entertainment wise, we must move back to a conversation at tea about falling asleep on the train. Joycy told a very funny story involving Gatt falling asleep on train coming home from work only to wake up with both hands in the air and an entire train carriage of people looking at him. Excellent.
