Cowdrey v Edenbridge Cricket Club redundant on Thu 23 Jul 2009 at 6.00
Edenbridge Cricket Club Won by 5 wickets

Match report Last match of the season against the leaders, Cowdrey, who were 10 points above us. Nothing short of a win and less wickets conceded would do....

Opting to bat first, Cowdrey accumulated 88 all out off 20 overs. The pitch was giving dodgy bounce and with Stephen opting for a defensive field to keep runs down, 88 was about the par score. Special mention to Harold for bowling two great overs at the death and getting 2 wickets for one run. Two wickets each also for Eddie and Stephen, and one each for Mark and Max. Good catches by Freddie and Hamish too. A fantastic effort which crucially got us the 4 bowling points we needed.

Their opening bowlers bowled very tight, and after 6 overs we had progressed to 15 for 1. Stephen provided a welcome boost to move us to 45 for 2 after 10 overs. Eddie and Dan added bits and pieces with Eddie retiring on 25.
Unselfish running by Thomas got us to 83 off 18 overs, but with the openers returning it was certainly in the balance. In came 8 year old Isaac who smashed 2 fours for the victory!!

Well done to all who have played for the team this season, every contribution helps.

This is my third year as U11 manager, and I still get immense thrill from seeing the boys perform, win or lose....it's a shame it is such a long wait until May!
