Lindfield IV v Edenbridge Cricket Club Saturday2nd XI on Sat 27 Jun 2015 at 13:30
Match was Drawn

Match report I nice trip to the beautifully situated & maintained (Not) Hickmans Lane ground. Hot n sticky after the long drive we were asked to bat first .....again.
Messrs Woodman & Cox went out to face up to a bit of a mixed bag attack. On & on they went through 50, 100, 150 ..... until Coxy managed to hole out to the bowling of the cheeky little 13 year old leggie that had been chirping away all afternoon much to JPW's chagrin. It was good to have Joycie returning to the fold after his enforced sabbatical but sadly his 6 iron let him down on this occasion & he under clubbed to mid off. Josh then joined the skipper to take us on through the batting points. Skipper finally fell for a serene 85 & after Josh also departed for a well constructed 28 the innings rather fell away. But a total of 244 looked like plenty.
Lindfield doubled up on the tea so that made some of the younger contingent happy. We then went out to start the task of dismantling Lindfield's batting. Henry blew away the cheeky thirteen year old in quick time, sent to pavilion with a flea in his ear courtesy of Mr C. We then settled down to some attritional cricket with Lindfield compiling a couple of lengthy partnerships. Despite ringing the changes it was pretty clear that we were probably not going to bowl them out if we'd played for a fortnight. Mike M managed to skilfully palm one onto the non striker's stumps to run out the opener, & then picked up their other heavy scorer with a fine LBW shout, but once the 200 mark had been passed that was that I'm afraid. Josh bowled his best spell of the season but without any luck. Chris (Coldplay) Martin also bowled without luck. We stuck to things well in the field but just couldn't pick up wickets with any regularity. Good to see the Martin spin twins operating in tandem - long may it continue (dependent of course, on Mike's knees ...... & ankles ...... & the rest of his creaking body - much like a few others of us). Onwards & upwards - hopefully.
