Following our recent newsletter, the Club is pleased to announce that True Build Ltd has been selected as the preferred building contractor for the construction of the new Matt Cox Community Pavilion at Blossoms Park. True Build is a local company based at Edenbridge High Street, uses local suppliers and employs local workers. True Build is known to and works closely with Edenbridge Town Council, Edenbridge Rugby Club and the Great Stonebridge Trust.
At the Extraordinary General Meeting staged in September 2017, members gave approval for the Club to proceed with the pavilion project on the basis of an estimated budget of £350,000. The final tender from True Build provides a cost of £314,000. With the unavoidable addition of VAT, the total is £377,000. The Club can confirm that pavilion fund raising efforts are sufficient to meet this cost without drawing on club operational funds.
The Club is proposing to go ahead with the building project on this basis. Members will recall that grants to a total of £150,000 have been promised by the England & Wales Cricket Board and Sport England. In order to draw upon those grants and avoid losing access to the funds, the Club must now proceed with the project and sign contracts with True Build. The building project will start in September 2018 and be completed by April 2019.
As a members club, the Club is giving members a final chance to raise any objections. Should there be sufficient objections, the Club will have to call another EGM, which requires two weeks’ notice, and puts our grant funding at risk.
Should you have any questions or objections to the Club embarking on this project, please raise these to me, Club Secretary, by 8pm on Monday 18th June.
